We present here various approaches to study the swimming gaits. A simplified model, a real experiment and a complete simulation of a 2D swimmer converge to the strategy to provide an optimal control for achieving the highest thrust and therefore to reach the highest speed.

M. Argentina is a professor in Physics from 2014 at Université Côte d’azur. He was enrolled as an assistant professor at Université Côte d’azur in 2005. Previously, he was a postdoctoral researcher for Harvard, Cambridge University, Universidad de Chile, and Universidad Complutense de Madrid. He studies problems related to locomotion and instabilities.
